It's Tip Tuesday.... A Pencil.
I can hear ya saying 'What' a pencil. Yip, carry a pencil in your survival bag. Now say you're heading off for an overnighter, no worries carry a pen or a marker in your pack if you want too. But in your survival bag always carry something you can write with and a pencil is ideal.
A pencil will never leak or dry out and as long as you've got some dry paper to write on will always work if you need to write a note to someone. I carry a small pencil and small notebook in my survival bag. Although the notebook has mostly notes in it from playing cards than anything important, but it's there is need be.
Tip 2. If you are using lead-tipped bullets you can write on paper with one in an emergency.
Remember if you've got friends coming to New Zealand or the Central Otago area for holidays, you might be looking for a personal guide. I can take you on a guided walk, a scenic tour, Mt Cook or Milford sound, a hunting adventure, perhaps a wine tour or pick up drop off on the Cromwell-Clyde cycle trail. Maybe an overnight backcountry camp out. Got something in mind? get in touch.
