Who's Pete Henderson
I was born in Dunedin, Otago and grew up there and spent my childhood as an outdoorsy kid. I played all sports. I was a reasonable athlete and represented my province of Otago in Athletics and Cross country. I was also a competitive Judo exponent and was ranked in the top few for my age/weight for South Island and New Zealand.
The start of my hunting career. About 5yrs old.
I developed a passion for hunting from an early age also tramping or hiking and with my nephew, Tony he and I went off hunting whenever we could. We spent a huge percent of our days out 'hunting'
Myself (L) and best mate and hunting buddy Tony my nephew in the early days.
After travelling around I settled in Queenstown. The adventure capital of the world.
I joined New Zealand Deerstalkers, Southern Lakes branch in 1989 and have held most positions within the club. I completed the NZDA HUNTS programme in November 2009 becoming a HUNTS instructor, the 7th in NZ gaining a diploma in outdoor leadership. After running HUNTS courses for about 18 years I become a NZDA HUNTS course assessor. I am also a Range officer and range assessor.

Last year a position became available through the New Zealand Deerstalkers for a South Island HUNTS assessor which I applied for and got the position. This is the first time a job like this has been made available in NZ as it's a paid part time position. So I've made a small bit of history.
I was an active member of Wakatipu Search and Rescue SAR, for close to twenty years as a search team leader. I joined Mountain Safety council at a similar time and became a bushcraft instructor, a firearms instructor and firearms assessor. I also become involved in scuba diving and have my rescue divers ticket and have been diving for around 25yrs.
In order to legally take clients out hunting I became a member of New Zealand professional hunting guides association passing the guides course and gaining their concession as a hunting guide.

Early this year I completed the New Zealand Police Range Inspector course. I am now a certified Police range inspector.
I have done numerous jobs and my last employer was with and international company as a sales manager for 21yrs. I resigned from them and started my own company up 'Out There Southern Adventures' as an adventure guide having concessions for guiding, 4WD, fishing and hunting.
